The OnePlus 13s: An incredibly powerful small device

I’m thrilled about the OnePlus 13s since I adore phones that are flagship-level in performance but manageable in one hand. The Google Pixel 9a and Apple iPhone 16e will be the rivals of OnePlus’s first compact smartphone attempt. It was announced for India on April 28, 2025. Here are some reasons why I believe the OnePlus 13s might be a huge success based on what has been shared.

Performance and Power

OnePlus has also confirmed that the 13s will run on the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. That’s Qualcomm’s top-tier chip, and seeing it in a compact phone feels like a statement. Whether I’m gaming, editing photos, or bouncing between a dozen apps, this processor, combined with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, should make everything feel snappy and seamless. It’s awesome to see OnePlus go all-in on power, even for a smaller device.

Display

The 6.32-inch display sounds like the perfect size—not too big, not too small. If the rumors are true about a 120 Hz refresh rate and 4,000 nits of peak brightness, this screen could be a dream for scrolling through X or watching shows, even in bright daylight. A display that vibrant and smooth would make this phone a joy to use every day.

Battery and Charging

Battery life is another area where the 13s seems to shine. A 5,000 mAh battery in a compact phone is seriously impressive, and the 80 W charger in the box means I can top it up in a flash. That’s the kind of combo that keeps you going without constantly worrying about finding a plug.

Style and Price

Style-wise, I’m digging the Black Velvet and Pink Satin color options—they sound sleek yet playful, letting you show off a bit of personality. My only hesitation is the price, which is expected to be ₹45,000 to ₹50,000. With the OnePlus 13R already in the ₹40,000 range, the 13s is definitely a premium pick. It’ll need to feel worth it when compared to its rivals.

The OnePlus 13s has all the makings of a compact phone that punches way above its weight. From its beastly processor to its promising display and battery, it’s ticking a lot of boxes for me. The price might make me think twice, but if it delivers the premium experience it’s promising, I’m all in. Can’t wait to see how it performs when it hits the Indian market!
